Sri Lanka Festival 2010 - gThe Dawn of a New Era: Sri Lankah

The 7th Annual Sri Lanka Festival will be held under the theme gThe Dawn of a New Era : Sri Lankah in Tokyofs Yoyogi Park in Shibuya Ward on 11th and 12th September 2010 from 10.00 am to 7.00 pm. Entrance to the Festival is free of charge.
The Sri Lanka Festival 2010 will provide the Japanese public with a unique opportunity to experience a taste of Sri Lankan culture right here in the heart of Tokyo. Around 100,000 visitors are expected at the Festival over the two days.

President to meet expats
President Mahinda Rajapaksa will hold discussions with Sri Lankan expatriates on their contribution to development as part of a special program which educates the expatriates on possible investment areas.
Special arrangements for this meeting are being made through the Sri Lankan missions abroad, a press release said yesterday. President Rajapaksa will address the Sri Lankan expatriates at the meeting on November 14 followed by a workshop on November 15 at the BMICH which provides an opportunity for expatriates to meet with leaders of Sri Lankafs financial and investment institutions. |

| Sri Lanka Holds First Post Conflict Elections |

The United Peoplefs Freedom Alliance (UPFA) recorded a
resounding victory at the first post conflict mini elections held in
Sri Lanka.
This was the first local election held in Jaffna Municipal Council,
Vavuniya Urban Council of Northern province & Uva Provincial
Council in the Southern part of Sri Lanka following the liberation
of the country from three decades of terrorism.

H.E. the President Mahinda Rajapakse and former Prime Minister of Japan Hon. Yasuo Fukuda ceremonially opened the gSigiriya Museumh on 28th July 2009. The Museum has been constructed with the financial assistance provided by the Japanese government. gSigiriyah is a world Heritage Site.
