His Excellency Mahinda Rajapaksa,
President of Sri Lanka and Madam Shiranthi
Rajapaksa had an audience with H.I.M. Emperor and
H.I.M. Empress at the Imperial Palace on Monday
10, December 2007 during H.E. the PresidentLs
three day official visit to Japan. H.I.M Emperor
hosted a banquet luncheon in honour of H.E. the
President and the delegation at the Imperial
Palace on the same day.
H.E. Mahinda Rajapaksa, President of Sri Lanka
held official talks with the Japanese Prime
Minister Hon. Yasuo Fukuda. The two leaders
discussed a wide range of issues relating to
future cooperation between Sri Lanka and
Japan.Foreign Minister Hon. Rohitha Bogollagama,
Sri LankaLs Ambassador to Japan H.E. Mr. Ranjith
Uyangoda and senior officials from the Government
of Sri Lanka were also associated with H.E. the
President in the discussion.
His Excellency Mahinda Rajapaksa, President of Sri
Lanka and Hon. Yasuo Fukuda, Japanese Prime
Minister gave a joint press interview at the Prime
MinisterLs Office in Tokyo following the bilateral
talks. The event was attended by both Japanese and
Sri Lankan media personnel.
Japanese Minister of Foreign Affairs Hon. Masahiko
Koumura called on His Excellency Mahinda
Rajapaksa, President of Sri Lanka during H.E. the
PresidentLs three day official visit to Japan.
Foreign Minister Hon. Rohitha Bogollagama, Sri
Lanka Ambassador to Japan H.E. Mr. Ranjith
Uyangoda and other Senior Officials were
associated with H.E. the President in the
discussion held between H.E. the President and the
Japanese Foreign Minister. Senior Officials of the
Japanese Foreign Ministry and the Japanese
Ambassador to Sri Lanka H.E. Mr. Araki were also
associated with the Foreign Minister Koumura in
the discussion.
Madam Shiranthi Rajapaksa, visited Akashi
Elementary School on December 10, 2007 during the
official visit of His Excellency the President to
Japan. She made a speech at the welcoming ceremony
which took place in the auditorium of Akashi
Elementary School. Madam Rajapaksa was accompanied
by Ms. Rekha Uyangoda, wife of the Ambassador of
Sri Lanka to Japan and Mrs. Araki, wife of
Japanese Ambassador to Sri Lanka.
Principal of Aksashi Elementary School and
Director of Akashi Kindergarten received the
memorial gifts from the first lady of Sri Lanka
Madam Shiranthi Rajapaksa at the welcoming
ceremony which took place in the school auditorium
on Monday 10, December 2007. The memorial gifts
were also presented to all the children of Akashi
Elementary School and Akashi Kindergarten.
H.E. the President Mahinda Rajapaksa was hosted to
a breakfast meeting by Hon. Hosei Norota the
President of the Japan Sri Lanka Parliamentary
League on Tuesday 11, December 2007 in Tokyo.
Parliamentary members Hon. Takeo Kawamura (Acting
Chairman of the LDP Policy Research Council), Hon.
Koki Chuma and Vice Foreign Minister Hon. Yasuhide
Nakayama also attended at the breakfast meting.
Hon. Tetsuuzo Fuyushiba, Minister of Land,
Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan
called on H.E. the President on Tuesday 11,
December 2007 at the Imperial Hotel during H.E.
the PresidentLs official visit to Japan and
discussed wide range of issues of bilateral
interest.
H.E. the President Mahinda Rajapaksa attended the
Sri Lanka Investment & Business Forum
organized by the Sri Lanka Embassy in Japan in
collaboration with the Board of Investment of Sri
Lanka, (BOI) and co-sponsored by JETRO and Sri
Lanka Business Council in Japan (SLBCJ) on Tuesday
11, December 2007 in Tokyo. The Forum was attended
by over 250 Japanese potential investors, business
entrepreneurs and members of the Sri Lankan
Business delegation.
Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama addressed a
Press Conference on Tuesday 11, December 2007 at
the Japan National Press Club held during the
visit of H.E. the President of Sri Lanka to Japan.
The Press Conference was attended by both Japanese
and Sri Lankan media personnel.
Hon. Masatoshi Wakayashi, the Minister of
Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan
called on H.E. the President of Sri Lanka on
Tuesday 11, December 2007 at Imperial Hotel and
discussed wide range of issues of bilateral
importance. Hon. Rohitha Bogollagama, Minister of
Foreign Affairs was also associated with H.E. the
President in the discussion.
